PROGRAM TODAY

Dave Vogt - a volunteer from Northwest harvest and Ken's guest gave us a talk about Northwest Harvest.

NW Harvest is the only Statewide hunger relief agency in Washington. 100 % of what they get is distributed state wide. 40 % of recipients are children and 16 % are elderly.

Last year they distributed 18 million pounds of food - food banks and hot meals. They do NOT turn anyone away ... all who come are accepted regardless of their job/social status. Many are the 'working poor' - a result of the high cost of living in the Northwest.

Please donate or volunteer (800.722.6924).

ITEM FOR THE DAY

According to a Scientific American article "Global warming should be more of a worry than ever: it could be pushing the earth's climate faster toward sudden shifts." Nov 2004 issue p. 64.
